The journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step. –Lao Tzu
Four years ago, on July 29 th 2013, Laurie Trezza faced an enormous challenge. Due to osteoarthritis, she was forced to have bilateral knee replacement surgery. Laurie turned 40 with two brand new knees. But, little did she know, this was the beginning of her new life.
Upon finishing physical therapy, Laurie was instructed to begin and maintain an active exercise regimen in order to keep her knees functional. Some of her friends highly recommended she seek out the help of Joe Pappalardo, one of XPT’s founders. So, Laurie took the first step and set up a meeting with him. She showed up at the gym and as soon as she met him, Laurie explains that she immediately knew he was the right fit for what she needed. She felt confident that she would be completely safe under his care and supervision. Joe was highly motivating and extremely knowledgeable. Most importantly, he genuinely cared and had her best interests in mind the entire time. After she had been training for a short while, Laurie achieved her first goal. She was finally strong enough to participate in a boxing bootcamp. Laurie took the class and was filled with enormous gratitude that she could exercise and be pain free.
Enter Anthony Dellaventura, her boxing coach. Laurie was drawn to Anthony’s no nonsense and rigorously structured approach to training. She enjoyed the format of his classes. She also loved being able to participate in class making only slight modifications, she wasn’t being held back by physical limitations. With Anthony’s help, Laurie was able to make the mind/body connection, which is paramount when actively attempting a lifestyle change. This mind/body connection was an essential component to Laurie’s continued progress.
Along with her physical obstacles, Laurie was battling with a tremendous amount of stress. She had lived through a very traumatic moment. Laurie was held at gun point, forced to hand over her engagement ring. This horrific experience was more than a robbery of possession, it stripped Laurie of her personal power. With her newfound strength in the gym, she was getting a taste of what it was like to feel empowered once again. The final push to propel her further along her journey happened when she woke up in the middle of the night to attend to her son.
Laurie fell hard and suffered a head injury. She laid there unconscious. As she came to, she could hear the desperate voices of her husband and son urging her to wake up. This experience gave her a whole new perspective on life. She made a decision to reach deep inside herself and press onward to improving her health even more. And she did. Laurie began working one on one with Anthony. As her personal trainer, he gave her fitness and nutritional guidance. Laurie made all the necessary adjustments to her everyday routine. She even decided to take it one step further and participated in The X Factor Program. It changed her life forever.
As I sat with this extraordinary woman, I could see love, light, compassion and joy emerge and overflow. Her beautiful smile is so genuine. She found the strength that she possessed all along and now feels complete, fulfilled and full of purpose. This remarkable woman has had the power to change the lives of those around her, by first changing herself. People have noticed Laurie’s physical transformation but even more so they have witnessed her positive internal transformation. Laurie shared a secret with me. She has the word “Brave” tattooed on her side with a heart. This brave woman had faith and believed that she deserved way more than the obstacles that were put in her way. Rather than allow herself to be consumed by fear, doubt and worry, she chose to take action and reclaim her life once and for all and thrive. As a result, she pays it forward by shining brightly every day and sharing her experience, strength and hope with those around her. She found herself through herself. By working with Joe and Anthony, along with her participation in their X Factor program, her life has taken on a whole new meaning.
Laurie has one word of advice to everyone:
Never give up and keep moving forward. All of us will have days when we doubt our
abilities, why we are doing this and wondering if it’s all just a waste of time. Keep
She urges people to not listen to that self-defeating voice. Instead, keep moving in the direction of your goals. With the help of Xcel Precision Training, you too will be guided and coached every single step of the way.
Laurie Trezza, we commend you on your outstanding efforts and phenomenal progress! You are a true testament of taking action and achieving goals.
The Xcel Precision Training family has truly changed my life. I signed up for fitness
classes and personal training, but what I’ve gotten is so much more than that. In
addition to a slimmer, more fit figure, I’ve gained back self-confidence I had lost, found
inner strength I never knew I had and discovered an inner peace I never understood
existed. If I had tried to explain this to my “old self” prior to starting my journey here at
XPT, I absolutely would have laughed and walked away, now instead, I catch myself
laughing in happiness often, because I still cannot believe how far I’ve come, how much
I’ve done, and how much more potential I still have! Despite all the obstacles in my
way, I still managed to be successful, because this team believes in me. Thank you,
Anthony, Joe, Chitra & Maria! Xoxo

The topic you describe here is really important. However, the mentioned type of training cannot be applied to anyone.
You are absolutely right! But here, we have everything necessary to prepare even the pre - beginners to extensive physical training.
Very useful post! Thanks for sharing! Now I’ll be planning my visit to your gym to take part in some fitness classes.
